«Motorsport is full of unpredictable factors»

The Greek Driver had two races where his dynamic performances ended early due to other driver’s mistakes.

Following a two-day test at Monza, Georgis Markogiannis raced at the sixth round of the Italian Formula 4 powered by Abarth season that took place at the same track. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan, during two days of valuable lessons. With setbacks, fightbacks, driving on dry track but also with rainy conditions – the 18-year-old experienced the tough side of racing.

Only two races took place at the Italian racetrack of the North, because the one scheduled for Sunday morning was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. Both with a 44-car grid, which turned the «Temple of Speed» to a true arena.

Markogiannis lined up 29th on the grid of Saturday’s race and even though he stalled when the lights went out and fall down to 40th place, he had a race of an epic fightback. But not an ideal ending because he was taken out during the last lap, having jumped to 21st place.

On Sunday’s race, he was 32nd on the grid and despite his competitive race on a drying track, he again paid heavy price for another driver’s mistake. He was classified 35th.

It was a tough weekend from which he will come back stronger: «Motorsport is full of unpredictable factors that can reward or negate the efforts and speed of a driver. Leaving all the misfortunes behind and focusing on the positive side of things, so that you can improve more, is quite a challenge. But that’s what I tried to do and I feel ready for the challenges to come. Despite all the bad luck of this weekend, judging by the pace we had and the speed by which I was gaining places, we can only feel satisfied and hope for the same speed (but less bad luck) at the final round of the season at Mugello».
